Property Taxes
Mid - MayProperty tax notices are mailed in mid-to late May.
July 2, 2010Property taxes are due at 4:30 p.m. on July 2nd, 2010
July 2, 2010A penalty is added to the current year's taxes that are unpaid at 4:30 p.m., July 2nd, 2010, including that portion of the property taxes that may be offset by an unclaimed Home Owner Grant. Please refer to the Home Owner Grant.
July 2, 2010The deadline for application under the Property Tax Deferment Program for the current year's taxes is July 2nd, 2009, to avoid penalties. If you miss the due date, you have until December 31st of the current taxation year to apply. Please note that you will be responsible for all penalties that are levied if you apply after the property tax due date – July 2nd, 2009. Please refer to the Property Tax Deferment Program.
July 31, 2010Property Tax Prepayment Plan renewals and applications must be in by July 31st, 2010, to commence payments on August 15th, 2010. Please refer to the Property Tax Prepayment Plan.
September 29, 2010An Annual Tax Sale is held on September 9th, 2010. Properties with delinquent taxes are subject to this sale. Please refer to the Annual Tax Sale.
December 31, 2010The last date to claim a Retroactive Home Owner Grant for 2010 is December 31st, 2010. Additional information is required to process a Retroactive Home Owner Grant. The 2009 Home Owner Grants claimed after December 31st, 2010 require approval by the Home Owner Grant Branch in Victoria, BC and must include additional evidence of residency. Please refer to the Home Owner Grant.
December 31, 2010Taxes and utilities that are due and outstanding on December 31st, 2010 will be transferred to your tax arrears. Arrears and delinquent property taxes are subject to interest as prescribed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council (Province of British Columbia) pursuant to Section 11(3) of the Taxation (Rural Area) Act until paid or recovered. Please refer to the Annual Tax Sale.

January 1Due and payable on January 1st.

Utilities
Metered UtilitiesMetered properties are invoiced for water, sewer and garbage on a bi-annual basis. To avoid a 2% penalty, payments must be received by April 30th and October 31st.
Note: If the due date falls on Saturday, Sunday or a statutory holiday, the due date will be extended to the next business day.
