| Official Community Plans are written to guide future
development within a community. A plan provides a degree of certainty
about the location and nature of community change to residents and
landowners. Community plans serve as a guide to municipal Councils
when making decisions regarding zoning, development and servicing
requirements to accommodate growth.
The policies within a community plan will also help guide the
decisions of the building industry in a positive way. They reflect
the broad consensus of community opinion that is transformed into
a framework for future development and into a strategy for managing
growth of the community.
The Official
Community Plan has been prepared with the involvement of council,
local businesses and residents of Invermere and the Upper Columbia
Valley. The consultation process has been a five year long project
(1996-2001) and has involved the public in different forums.
Council, business owners, residents and community interest groups
have supplied input to this community plan through focus groups,
telephone and mail-in surveys, public workshops/open houses and
advisory committees.

document it is maintained in separate PDF files, shown below. Please
